January 17, 2002

Dear Colleague:

The Photography Department at Parsons School of Design is pleased to announce a
collaboration between Photo District News (PDN) and the Marty Forscher
Fellowship Fund (MFFF). The Forscher Fund was established in 1990 to recognize
emerging professionals and students working in the field of humanistic
photography.

This year the MFFF committee will award two grants, $4000 to an emerging
professional and $2000 to a student. The grants will be awarded under the
auspices of the 2002 PDN Photography Annual contest, The Power of Photography.
This means that MFFF winners and their work will be featured in the May issue
of PDN and in PDN Online along with all PDN Photography Annual winners. Winners
will also be included in the award celebration hosted by PDN in May 2002, in
New York City.

In exchange for receiving a MFFF grant, the recipient must agree to prepare and
present a lecture on his or her work to be given at a high school or junior
college in the recipient's community sometime the following year.

Submissions to the MFFF competition are generally by nomination only, and to
that end, we invite you to submit up to a total of four nominees, preferably
two in each category. Because we are collaborating with PDN this year, please
visit the PDN website, www.pdnonline.com/contests for contest application and
submission rules.

All PDN contest rules and entry fees ($20 per student and $50 per emerging
professional) apply except the deadline for submissions to the MFFF award is
February 25th and the submission and entry fee should be sent to the following
address:

Marty Forscher Fellowship Fund
Parsons School of Design
66 Fifth Avenue
New York, NY 10011

Also, please note that all work submitted does not have to have been completed
between Feb. 1, 2001 and Feb. 1, 2002, as the rules state. However, the project
must include images photographed during that time period.

We are very excited about this new opportunity for the Marty Forscher
Fellowship Fund winners and hope you will help make this collaboration a
success by making nominations for the award.

If you have any questions, please contact Michelle Bogre at 212.229.8923 or
bogrem@newschool.edu.

Regards,

Michelle Bogre
Chairperson
