Philips Semiconductor Image Sensors (Eindhoven, Netherlands) is market leader itn the field
of CCD image sensors for professional digital photography. Our mainproduct is a 3K x 2K image
sensor (10 cm2 area CCD chip). It is very hard to make this device defect free. Various
pixels can be completely dead or has an optical response which deviates from the mean value.
We are looking for support to develop new and evaluate existing error correcting algorithms
which we can include in our digital signal processing to cleverly correct pixels defects and
column defects. 1 dimensional correction schemes are available, but 2 D correction algorithms
still have to be developed.
New correction algorithms need to be checked and evaluated by means of simulation. A major
request for imaging engineer is a basic knowledge of C++.
The internship can go from 3 months till 12 months depending on the interest and the time
available from the student/participant.
