HARVARD UNIVERSITY ART MUSEUMS
seeks a full-time fine arts
PHOTOGRAPHER

Operate and maintain a wide range of large-format (8x10") to 35mm camera
equipment to produce high-quality photographs of two-dimensional and
three-dimensional works of art for research and publication. Use special
lighting and processing techniques to produce photographs, works of art in and
of themselves, used for art historical study and interpretation. Confer with
curators, scholars, designers, and publishers to determine specific needs,
often under time pressure. Handle irreplaceable art objects and rare books.
Select background, lighting, and composition to interpret the work of art most
appropriately. Produce 8x10" black-and-white negatives and archival prints,
35mm slides, 8x10" transparencies, and digital image files for a variety of
purposes. Performs specialized photographic procedures and laboratory
techniques including infra-red and ultra-violet photography.

Required/Preferred Education, Experience, Skills: Bachelors degree in
humanities preferred; Technical courses in photography beyond high school; Five
or more years of experience in large-format photography, including
film-processing and contact printing from 8x10" negatives; Experience with
studio lighting techniques, including infra-red and ultra-violet techniques;
Experience in fine arts/museum photography; Good eye for color essential.
Ability to work effectively under deadline pressure; attention to detail; good
organizational skills; Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work effectively
with a wide variety of clients.
