Optical Systems Engineer - location: San Diego

You will be responsible for optical system design, breadboarding, assembly,
testing, and system troubleshooting on engineering/research projects. You
will participate as a member of a development team with responsibility for
concept design, documentation, procedures, creating tests and methods,
system assembly, and system testing. You will participate in subsystem
testing, system testing, verification testing and pre-production testing of
products. You will assist the team in meeting its goals and in supporting
development on other areas.

Qualifications:
B.S./M.S. in Physics/Optical Engineering, with 5 years experience. Must
have good analytical skills and the understanding of optical systems,
optical engineering, gaussian, and have experience working independently to
trouble shoot system problems. Knowledge in most of the following areas is
required: opto-mechanical design, fluourescence, imaging, test and method
development. Must be able to design experiments and present results.
Optical testing, components, subassemblies - taking concept to product
industry. Not an academic person, understands documentation, fluorescents
experience will be helpful. PhD is not necessary, Masters is nice. Best
places is someone in biotech, medical industry. Someone with broad
experience within instrumentation and science would be great. (Nanogen,
image processing that would be perfect)
