The National Archives and Records Administration has a job opening for a
Digital Imaging Specialist to work in the digital imaging lab of the
Special Media Preservation Laboratory, College Park, Maryland.

POSITION: Digital Imaging Specialist (Preservation), GS-1001-11/12

SALARY RANGE:
GS-11 $44,352 to $57,656*
GS-12 $53,156 to $69,099*
(*New employees generally start at the minimum rate. Candidates with prior
federal service may start at a rate above the minimum.)

DUTIES: Serves as a Digital Imaging Specialist in the Photography Section
of the Special Media Preservation Laboratory. Performs duties associated
with reformatting of original archival records and photographic
intermediates using computer hardware and software technology and duties
relating to the long-term management and preservation of digital image
files. Provides imaging services and technical assistance to a variety of
projects designed to meet NARA's strategic goals. Provides management and
program analysis of reformatting records using digital imaging technology
and of the long term management and maintenance of digital image files.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS: Specialized Experience is experience which
has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and
abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position and which is
typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Examples
of specialized experience include reformatting original archival records
and photographic intermediates using digital imaging technology to produce
image files; providing imaging services for projects, including scanning,
file preparation, creation of derivative files and creation of technical
and administrative metadata for records; providing management and program
analysis of reformatting records using digital imaging technology and of
the long-term management and maintenance of digital image files; keeping
abreast of relevant developments in digital imaging profession and digital
library community, as well as the hardware, software, and services provided
by vendors; serving as a technical specialist and making recommendations
concerning digital imaging; and evaluating and conducting quality control
inspection of vendor/contractor-produced work.
