POSITION VACANCY: Assistant Professor of Studio Art
PHOTOGRAPHY

Tenure track. Nine-month appointment with possibility of summer teaching.
The Department of Art and Art History is seeking an outstanding and
innovative artist and educator in the field of photography to become part
of an active studio art program in a large urban research university.
Studio art is housed in one of sixteen departments of the College of Arts
and Sciences. Enrollments include nearly 200 majors. Traditional darkrooms
were recently renovated and the Department also has a well-equipped
computer graphics facility. The successful candidate should be able to
teach and develop beginning, intermediate and advanced undergraduate
courses in photography and participate in the graduate MA program, as
well. Other areas of expertise could include color, large format,
non-silver, installation, etc. The ability to teach photography to non-art
majors and general studio majors is necessary. The University of
Missouri-Kansas City is located in the center of a metropolitan area of
1.6 million. With programs in theatre, an on-campus repertory theatre,
and the Conservatory of Music, the Department of Art and Art History
contributes to the campus emphasis on the Visual and Performing Arts.

M.F.A. required. The successful candidate must be an active artist with an
established exhibition record. The ability to teach effectively with
faculty in related fields (graphic design, printmaking, web design, and
electronic media) is essential. Preference will be given to candidates who
have experience with photographic lab supervision, development and
maintenance. Experience teaching digital photography, digital imaging and
photo for new media at the college level is mandatory.
