A Sign in the Heavens

"And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory."(Matthew 24:30)

In November 1995, CNN showed pictures of the Eagle Nebula (M16) from the Hubble Space Telescope. A number of people phoned in to say they could see the face of Jesus in the nebula in one of the pictures.

The Word nebulae (singular, nebula) comes from the Greek word for cloud.

The "Eagle Nebula" M16, is a nearby star-forming region 7,000 light-years away.

The following mosaic allows you to identify which regions of the Eagle nebula the Hubble telescope has exposed:

The tallest pillar (left) is about a light-year long from base to tip. The Pillars are made up of especially dense clouds of molecular hydrogen gas (two atoms of hydrogen in each molecule) and dust.

A flood of ultraviolet light from hot, massive newborn stars, are slowly eroding away the pillars. This process is called "photoevaporation". This ultraviolet light is also responsible for illuminating the convoluted surfaces of the columns and the ghostly streamers of gas boiling away from their surfaces, producing the dramatic visual effects that highlight the three-dimensional nature of the clouds.

Small globules of even denser gas buried within the pillars are forming embryonic stars.

The color images are constructed from three separate images taken in the light of emission from different types of atoms. Red shows emission from singly-ionized sulfur atoms. Green shows emission from hydrogen. Blue shows light emitted by doubly- ionized oxygen atoms.¹

There is also a few images apart from the face of Jesus in the nebula that have not been discussed before.

The picture above shows the entire Eagle Nebula. The same picture on the right shows some features of a being with wings wearing a crown and the hands raised in prayer.

Before you say I'm going off the deep end lets look a little closer at the features on the face of this being as shown in the closer Hubble Telescope pictures.

The picture on the left is a closer view of the face of the being. The same picture on the right points out the detailed features on the head. The face of Jesus is located in the crown at the top of the head. Other pictures that show the lower part of the face show a mouth.

In this color enhanced version, a closeup, the facial features become more easily discerned and the outstretched hand is in direct proportion to the heighth of the figure.²

"For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

For wheresoever the body is, there will the eagles be gathered together.

Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken.

And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory."(Matthew 24:27-30)

"And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight.

And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel;

Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven." (Acts 1:9-11)

The face in the crown could dwarf our solar system. Not to say that this is the face of Chrsit, but how can the whole earth see the Son of man coming in a cloud, if that man is 5' 10". The point of this paper is not to show faces and signs where none may exist, but to show that the second coming may be alot bigger than we might imagine.

Please do not read into this information that this is a (the) sign. For if it was, and God chose to follow the laws of physics he placed on our universe, then we can expect to see the nebula in our solar system, at the soonest, 7000 years from now (this is considering that it would be moving as fast as the speed of light). There is no indication that the Eagle Nebula is moving in our direction.
